THE MISSION The divisions are formed by the collective efforts of many researchers with the main goal of increasing the capacity and capability of ITAP as a focal point for international research and research training thereby contributing to the scientific mobility in this convergence region as a non-governmental scientific institute. Our researchers are also affiliated with developed universities across the nation with strong international collaborations, facilitating tremendously our efforts to accomplish our main goal in an efficient way. These divisions are: - Division of Applied Condensed Matter Physics, Nanodevices and Nanomaterials - Division of Statistical Mechanics and Complexity - Division of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics The web pages of the divisions are currently under construction. The main objectives of the divisions are: 1) To implement collective plans made towards creating a point of convergence at ITAP for meeting international and national researchers and research students, 2) To create a high mobility environment at ITAP by inviting established researchers and young researchers for short and medium durations for activities oriented towards collective research efforts within the divisions, 3) To organize research training events including research workshops open to division members and highly qualified international and national participants, 4) To organize short frontiers workshops to introduce the most recent developments, 5) To organize short brainstorming workshops facilitating the collective efforts to unlock the difficulties in a particular research problem of the related division, 6) To invite young national researchers from abroad for collaboration and for facilitating their efforts to communicate with universities in Turkey for seminars and possible academic job applications, contribute to the national efforts to decrease brain drain and to strengthen brain gain 7) To participate in and sometimes lead activities organized by several national and international institutions, develop new institutional collaborations with a particular emphasis of European and Turkish institutions, 8) Seek institutional funding from national and international sources for the development of ITAP research, participate in FP7 projects 9) To disseminate ITAP research by seminars and lectures in academic organizations, to deliver briefings targeting governmental and non governmental organizations. 10) To organize science-and-society activities for reaching out high school science teachers, high school students and public.
