Short Description of the School

The 2.nd International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics: Connectivity & Cognition is a continuation of the 2012 International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics. These series of meetings which we plan to be organized regularly on the yearly basis, aim at highlighting the state-of-the-art topics in the study of functional and behavioral dynamics as well as complexities of the brain by bringing together experts from a variety of interdisciplinary fields involving neuroscience, neurotechnology, engineering, medicine, computer science, mathematics and physics. This year, the workshop will focus on Connectivity & Cognition targeting at senior and junior researchers, scientists, engineers, clinicians, mathematicians, physicists, biologists and students working in these fields.

The Second International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics – Connectivity and Cognition will be held in the scenic Mediterranean town of Turunc, Marmaris, Turkey on July 1-6, 2013 hosted by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physics (ITAP). Following with the success of the inaugural Summer School and Workshop held on July 23-28, 2012 (http://itap-tthv.org/braindynamics2012), the Brain Dynamics Summer School and Workshop again aims to bring together faculty, researchers and students from academia as well as clinical researchers and technology developers from public, private and civil sectors. The school focuses on basic and applied research as well as clinical studies, research & development outcomes in cognitive, computational and experimental neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, neurology, neuroimaging, and neuroengineering. The common thread uniting the participants is their desire and commitment to uncover the relationship between anatomical and functional connectivity and the dynamics within the brain and cognitive function. Brain connectivity refers to a pattern of structural, statistical or causal interactions and dependencies between micro to macro structures within the nervous system such as individual neurons, neuronal populations, or brain regions. Understanding brain connectivity is essential to gain insight on how neurons and neural networks process information dynamically across various brain regions over time to perform a specific cognitive function.

The summer school and workshop target advanced students, junior and senior level researchers, scientists, engineers, clinicians, mathematicians, physicists, biologists, medical professionals, to inform them about the state of the art topics and recent advances in brain connectivity and cognition research.

The main topics that will be covered in the International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics - Connectivity and Cognition will include but are not limited to:

* National applicants' local expenses will be totally covered by our state projects. According to the bilateral agreements of ITAP, participants from China, Taiwan, India, South Korea, Georgia and Bulgaria are eligible for complete support covering the local expenses.
